Belkin 500VA UPS for battery backup and power conditioning.
All of my web pages are created and maintained with Vim, which is like Vi, but with some enhanced features.
I use Server Side Includes (SSI) for some of the common elements (headers, footers, for example) and for the dynamic content (the "uptime" stats, for example).
I've just started experimenting with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). This allows some effects not possible with plain-old html. It also makes site maintenance much easier. Netscape 8 and Mozilla's browsers seem to have good support for the CSS standard. Internet Explorer is catching up on CSS support.
This server gets its time from time.nist.gov, which is a stratum-1 time server operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. If you load a page containing a clock display (like the one at the bottom of this page), the time you see is static --that is, it will not update itself. It represents the time that my server received your browser's request. If you hit the "Reload" button, the time will be updated. It will not be "accurate" down to the precise second, due to the time it takes for the request and the response to traverse the internet--but it's pretty close!
